Blaast created a cloud-based mobile operating system for low-income users across Southeast Asia, alongside a powerful analytics backend designed for developers and app publishers. The startup was acquired by Facebook.
As Head of Design, Oliver led design across the organisation, from marketing campaigns to the core operating system. In designing the OS, Oliver worked closely with the engineering team to define UI and UX conventions, alongside designing a series of flagship apps and creating developer guidelines. A key challenge with Blaast was designing a platform with visual and interaction conventions that empowered developers, allowing them to build functional, visually consistent apps for the operating system.
